Les Miserables Review

les-miserables-jean-valjean-movie-posterI am totally obsessed with this now!  I have the soundtrack on repeat, am humming the songs in my sleep and just finished up the 25th anniversary special on Youtube.  This is zero to sixty since I went into seeing the movie without knowing anything about the story and only knowing two of the songs.  I have now seen the movie twice.  I almost wish I still worked at a movie theater so I could see it as much as I did The Phantom of the Opera when it was in theaters {which was maybe 5 or 6?!} and then RENT.

Could this movie be anymore epic?!  From the opening notes to the ending ones.  It filled up my soul.

My Favorite Songs:

*Do You Hear the People Sing – EPIC

*Red & Black – heroic

*One More Day – also EPIC

*Who Am I? – UH-mazing

*On My Own – favorite to sing along to

*Drink with Me – heartwarming

*Hugh Jackman:  Best songs were Let Him Live/Bring Me Home so emotional and the finale made me ugly cry!  LOL  Honorable mention to Who Am I? I LOVE that one.

Les_Miserables_Hathaway*Anne Hathaway {I Dreamed a Dream} and Eddie Redmayne {Empty Chairs at Empty Tables} need to have awards rained down upon them for their solos!  Both made me sob!

*Amanda Seyfried was beautiful and sang the same!

*Helena Bonham Carter, love her as usual.

*Sacha Baron Cohen I thought I was gonna loathe, BUT he had a great singing voice and brought the character to life.  He and Helena together were a perfect pairing!

*Russel Crowe is a GREAT actor…as a singer and compared to everyone one else in the cast…not so much.

I am so happy that these wonderful musicals have been made into movies.  I would have not been able to see them otherwise.  A movie ticket is much cheaper than a theater ticket and you always get the best seat in the house!

5 out of 5 stars
