Guide to shopping Geek

If you take a second to look at the calendar, you will realize the holidays are creeping up on you like a Zombie after its next meal.  Black Friday, which is the traditional start of the Christmas shopping season, is here in just a few days and my question is, what are you getting your favorite nerd?  We know we are hard to shop for so here are some of the best of the best from around the web…whether it’s $5 or $500 you want to spend, options there are, young Padawan.

Any Doctor Who fan would appreciate the occasional Sonic Screwdriver or a Dalek Ornament.  But if you find yourself in a particularly crafty mood, are short on funds or BOTH, why not knit a Tom Baker Scarf or craft a spectacular half scale Tardis cat fort for your feline loving Whovian?

Living with a comic book fan?  Why not show your love of all things nerdy by jetting off to Brazil and picking up the Wonder Woman KitchenAid Mixer.  This can be combined with artist Jason Adams great comic book onomatopoeia’s on ceramic tiles that will very soon be part of someone’s kitchen (I vote for mine!)  Hang one of these awesome mash up pop art “Treats” prints (these are only $5, I think she is CRAZY for selling them so cheap!)  and eat one of these awesome Spider-Man cookies and you are set.  I do this dressed in a hand painted Dalek apron for full effect.  (It was made by a friend, sorry!)

Need something new for that ultimate Zombie fan?  How about a membership to the Zombie Research Society?  To fully implement this theme, consider including a month supply of fooda pathogen protection kit, a quality pump shotgun and/or a war club.  The added shelter cloth duster is simply for effect though it might provide some additional needs in the event that the Apocalypse is imminent.  (i.e. shelter, trade, or protection).

Are you in a house divided, one of you is a Trekkie and one of you knows better?  (it’s a JOKE, no hate mail please!)  Then check out this Darth Vader Toaster and this Captain Kirk mug.  Come on, can’t we all just get along over breakfast?  How about a sleep over with the Tauntaun sleeping bag or an R2-D2 Popcorn Bucket?  While most options for the popcorn bucket involve either EBay or a trip to Disneyland, I am sure that your droid-ophile will appreciate the thought.  If that doesn’t do it, then throw in the Star Trek laptop skin or grab the pattern and craft the most awesome “Spock” Monkey in several known universes!

Is your nerdy partner in crime already planning their next costume to wear at the Middle Earth Con?  Check out Three Muses Clothing for the best base pieces and couture work from someone who attends cons herself!  Candy Keane will hook you up on costumes and accessories with an eye to detail and accuracy.

Still didn’t see what you need?  I highly recommend you check out Tanga.com for obnoxious nerdy tees at ridiculous prices (these run from $5 – $7 usually).  You must buy it when you see it though, as these are closeouts, but you can get some GREAT tees here, its my little secret (or at least it was).  Spoonflower is my next secret site for all the crafty folks out there.  Here you can get custom fabrics in any number of nerdy themes as well as plushies you can make very easily.  EBay is always a standby because you can literally find things there you didn’t even know existed…seriously, go there, put in Batman and see how much you find.  Right now, I am getting 148,542.  Yeah, really.

So calm down.  There really is something for everyone.

Happy shopping peeps!
